Searching for a Steel Pokemon CLOSED

Sam stood infront of a large cave, the opening seeming to resemble a mouth and the stalagtites like teeth. He had never ventured this far from Pellet Town, except for vacations, where he was always in the safety of civilization and the company of mankind.

But for now, it was just him and Bronzor, who was sitting right beside him.

"Bronzor, you fought well against that Hoothoot today, so when I went out to town today I got you some things you might like," said Sam with a smile as he opened his bag and gave Bronzor a nice treat. But as he watched Bronzor thoroughly enjoy his food, Sam continued digging, and at last pulled out 2 different colored disks.

"You've probably never seen anything like this before, so let me explain. These are TM's, or Technical Machines. Both contain moves that I had to spend a fortune to buy, but I think you deserve them."

Sam set each upon Bronzor's head, and in a couple of minutes the machines worked their magic and he had learned two new moves: Earthquake and Psychic. Both would be perfect for their battle with Brock. But Sam knew he couldn't take Brock alone, which was why they were here. To get a new Pokemon.

But not just any Pokemon. Sam had been spending months researching exactly what type he should specialize in. He had considered Dragon and Dark, but at last decided on Steel, for their high defenses and lack of weaknesses. And he had heard that this cave contained some Pokemon such as Aron and Shieldon, and thought he ought to investigate.

Both of them walked into the gloomy cave, which had a damp stench to it. Sam could barely see a couple of feet away from him, but knew this would probably be the best place to find a steel Pokemon. So for a while, he and Bronzor sat around waiting to see what would arrive. If they were lucky, maybe they'd even find a Steelix.

You walk into the dark cave and in no time at all you spot many different rock pokemon, ignoring them you walk on looking for a steel type.

Sam was disappointed at the difficulty at finding a Steel-type Pokemon, but he never had the best of luck anyway. He knew this cave would be populated mainly with Rock-types, but surely there must be some Steel Pokemon around somewhere.

He and Bronzor continued on, paying little attention to the Rock-type Pokemon around him. If he never came upon a Steel-type, at least he could use a Geodude for training fodder for Bronzor. But with the three new Pokeballs he had bought, especially the Great Ball which cost $500, he wanted to get some sort of Steel Pokemon. So they both continued walking on, waiting to see if they'd find something.

Finally you spot a Beldum not far off.

"Is that...a Beldum? I can't believe I'd find something so rare! I suppose patience really did pay off." said Sam, almost speechless, at how fortune he was to spot a Pokemon like that.

He knew Beldum and Bronzor had the exact same type combination, yet were strong and weak in different areas. Even though they were similar, Beldum was slightly better at attacking while Bronzor was just mildly stronger in defense. The two Pokemon would make a perfect team, especially when Beldum finally evolved into Metagross, who was rumored to be almost as strong as a Legendary.

But he couldn't let his mind wander too much, he hadn't even caught the Pokemon yet.

"Bronzor, for now use Psychic, but make sure you don't knock it out. We want to try to catch this guy. This fight will be much harder than your last, but if you put forth the same effort you did this morning, I know you can win. Let's do this!"

The attack hit. Beldum was caught off guard by the attack but uses take down on Bronzor

"No! Bronzor, don't stop now, get back up and fight!" shouted Sam as he watched the Beldum ram Bronzor and knock him flat on the cold cave floor. Slowly, but not that badly bruised, Bronzor rose back up, successfully taking his first real hit in a battle. Thankfully, due to his high defense, he wasn't seriously injured.

"Bronzor, let's use another Confusion. Be careful not to KO Beldum. When he's down by enough, we'll use Hypnosis to make it easier to catch!"

The attack hits again, doing abit more damage. Beldum uses take down again but the attack misses.

"Alright, good dodge Bronzor. I think we're almost ready to catch him. Now, use Hypnosis!"

Sam wasn't sure if it was too early, but he had spare Pokeballs in case things didn't work out. If the Hypnosis worked, he was going to throw his Great Ball, but if not he'd have to think up another strategy.

The attack works and the steel pokemon falls asleep.

"Great, good effort Bronzor. We've got him just where we want him!"

Sam took the Great Ball out of his bag, a bit hesitantly. He knew the Beldum probably could've taken another Psychic, maybe even an Earthquake, before he fainted, but Sam was ready to get this over with. If it didn't work, however, not only would he have wasted $500 on this Great Ball, but he only had two regular Poke Balls left. So this had to work.

"Come on, Great Ball, snag this Pokemon..." thought Sam as he finally threw the ball at the Pokemon, who was absorbed in a flash of red light. Sam stared at the ball intentedly as it swung back and forth, waiting optimistically to see if he'd hear the familiar "click".

Beldum is hit by the great ball, after awhile the click is heard and you have caught beldum. Its level 8 and knows take down.

"YES!" shouted Sam in joy as the Great Ball finally stopped moving. He gave Bronzor a pat on the back, before returning him to his Pokeball, and went over to pick up the Great Ball. With both securely on his belt, Sam began to make his way out of the cave.

"I've got two very strong Pokemon, both dual-types with a four-time type advantage to Brock. After just a short day of training, I ought to make my way to Pewter City now and see what he's got."

Sam was all smiles as he emerged from the cave opening, deciding to stop by his house first and pack up since he was so close to Pallet Town. It would be a long, dangerous road to Pewter City, but with his Pokemon by his side Sam knew nothing could stop him.
