In the fields...

Sinnius set out away from Pallet town and the grassy area where he'd caught his first pokemon, a Pidgey called Wingblade. His loyal partner Blaze clung to his shoulder and looked out at the wide field infront of them. Sinnius was unsure of what they'd run into, more pokemon, another trainer, or whether they'd pass through unhindered. He took another step and then continued at a confident pace, looking only dead ahead.

Sinnius nearly jumped out of his skin at the sudden attack, but he wasn't willing to back down, Blaze was still in fighting condition and Sinnius had never seen a Poochyena before. It would be a worthy pokemon to catch, if Blaze could handle it. First Sinnius would test if the Poochyena could take a normal attack. "Ready Blaze? Let's use Scratch!" Blaze clung to the Poochyena's scruff and hled up his claws to scratch at the dog-like pokemon.

Sinnius kept his eye closely on the dog-like pokemon, worried it may be too much for his Charmander. it wouldn't be, Blaze was getting stronger ever since they'd teamed up. "Blaze, you can do this, Scratch again!" He stepped cautiously from side to side as his pokemon did the same, hoping not to get hit. Sinnius reached into his pocket, checking he had a pokeball ready, this was one pokemon he didn't want to miss.

Sinnius saw a golden oppertunity to try and test the potential of that one move. He leaned forwards slightly, worried that if this didn't work it might injure Blaze more. "Blaze, use it's speed and power against it! Scratch, but try and use it's speed as well as your own to injure!" Sinnius clenched his fists and watched on cautiously. If this worked, the Poochyena would unwittingly add power to Blaze's attack, but if it didn't, Blaze could well take the full force of it's tackle. Sinnius was willing to take the risk, he would be strong.

Sinnius motioned to Blaze with one arm. "Blaze, step back. This one's ours!" Blaze jumped backwards out of the way for it's trainer. Sinnius stepped forwards, a slightly dangerous thing to do if the Poochyena decided to attack. He stood a mere metre away from the pokemon and held out the pokeball. "You're mine." He threw the pokeball lightly above the pokemon and watched as it opened and sucked in the dog-like pokemon. Sinnius stood smirking, looking confident to anyone who may be watching, but inside his heart hammered as he hoped and prayed this would work, or he'd look like a complete fool.

Sinnius knelt on one leg next to his partner pokemon and balanced himself with one hand on the ground. He not once took his eyes off the pokeball. Blaze copied his trainer and watched the pokeball. Sinnius let his hand fall on Blaze's shoulder and gave it a light squeeze, mentally informing his pokemon that if this didn't work, they'd still try again. They weren't about to lose this one.
