As Donovon entered the forest he could here the sounds of wild pokemon all around him. But only pokemon was on Donovons mind and that was a Gligar. Donovon had read a few things about them using his pokedex. Donovon walked around clueless on exactly where to look for Gligar the only thing he could do was wander through tall grass in hopes would jump out and want to battle him.

:As you walk through the dense Forest, little do you know another trainer also lurks in it's midsts. Traveling through the tall grass you accidentally step on something large and slightly squishy lying on the ground. You look down to see a purple haired boy dozing, a Psyduck resting on his face lazily. As you step on him he lets out a slight groan and lifts the sleeping Psyduck from his face.
"oh, hello," he says giving a sheepish grin. He stands up, replacing his Pokemon on top of his head. "Sorry, I was just staring at the sky and I guess we fell asleep," he laughed. "I'm June. May I ask who you are?" he ponders to you. He seems like an odd person, nonetheless falling asleep in the middle of a giant forest. He waits for your reply.:

With a blank expression on his face Donovon quietly said,"My name is Donovon and I'm a pokemon trainer... Obviously the same as you are, but I doubt that you're worth my time right now". Donovon looks away and starts to walk away from the strange trainer, but he stops suddenly. As Donovon stood there the words that Brock had said to him after his Gym Battle had a actually gotten to him a little bit. Donovon turned around slowly and tried to smile as if his last few words were merely a joke. Donovon then said, "Actually..........I'm here in this forest looking for a Gligar.... You haven't seen one have you?". Just then Donovon thought about what had just said how could he have seen one if he was just laying around sleeping. Unable to take his words back Donovon awaited a reply.

OOC: Glad to see your character developing! Yay! Oh, and June is my main char btw :]

The boy known as June yawned slightly, patted his Psyduck, then pointed upwards, towards a tree. "You mean like that one hanging off that branch?" Sure enough as you look up you see a Gligar roosting upside down on a branch in a nearby tree.

June laughs. "Tell you what," he smiles, "Let's have some fun!" He points to the branch again. "Let's have a competition! First one to get that Gligar to come out of the tree and come to them, can keep him!" He gave a slight sly grin, "However! There's two rules, one, we each get to take turns trying, you first if you'd like, and second, you can't hurt the Gligar! No battling. But you can use your Pokemon in any other way." He slides his hands into the bottom pockets of his hoodie. "Oki, your up!" he smiles. The sleeping Gligar awaits your move...

OOC: Just trying to keep things interesting. I could kinda tell that was your character because of the Psyduck. Smile

Donovon looks at the strange boy with an almost confused expression. He didn't really didn't understand how any two people could try and obtain a pokemon without first battling it to test its strength, but strangely enough he liked the idea of this contest. Donovon then calls forth his three pokemon and says,"Machop use Cross Chop on that tree, Snorunt you to use Ice Beam on the exact same spot, and Trapinch make the biggest pile of sand you can with Sand Tomb". Donovons pokemon nodded and executed swiftly the commands they were given. As Machop and Snorunt struck the tree it began to shake hoping that it would be enough to knock Gligar down from its incredible height Donovon stood in the pile of sand, to absorb some of the shook of catching Gligar directly below the hanging Gligar. Waiting for it fall right into his awaiting hands. Donovon grinned while saying," You said no battling but you never said we couldn't use our pokemon to help us, and what's the difference of it coming to me or it falling right into my grasps anyway?".

June smiles as the boy explains how the Gligar will fall right into his hands. His moves were fast, precise, and straight forward. It was a good plan.
Except June knew otherwise.
"You'r right," he said, "however, I kinda grew up just watching and playing with Pokemon often. And so, because of that, I know..." He pointed up to the tree. The Gligar was suddenly awakened by the violent shaking of the tree. He let out a loud call, "Glig!!" the flew off to a different tree, onto a different branch, and resumed its roosting. "...Gligars hate being woken up." He smiled. "Well, guess it'm my turn."
The boy walked to the edge of the new tree. he lifted his right hand to his lips, and use them to make a few shrill calls and whistles. The Gligar batted an eye, and cooed a bit, but didn't budge. "Come on, Gligar! It's time to wake up bro! I just did!" But the Gligar refused to move. "Wow, guess he's a bit grumpier than I thought, haha," June smiled. "Oh well, your turn again", and he sat down his legs stretched out waiting for this guy to make his next attempt.

Starting to become a little irritated Donovon and thought of a better plan, or see he thought instead of using attacks to knock Gligar down from the tree they could use noise to annoy the sleeping Gligar, and just maybe Gligar would rush in for an attack. So Donovon and his pokemon began to make the loudest and most obnoxious noise that they could possibly think of. They screamed and shouted threw things and even taunted the sleeping Gligar and four refused to let up until Gligar at least acknowledged their actions.

As the Gligar was bombarded by intentional annoyance, he eventually opened his eyes, glared at Donovon, and let out a loud Screech which momentarily halted Donovon's pokemon, as well as caused Donovon and June to cover their ears. it was loud, and quite annoying. IT's scream was louder than the one's the Pokemon had been making.
"Well, that hurt." June said. Psyduck was still sound asleep.
The Gligar was angered however still did not move, only kept one eye open, glancing from Donovon to June, to the Pokemon. He was alert, adn rigid now. Ready to make a move.
"I'm up!" June said grinning. "Oki, Psyduck, time to wake up, Bro!" But Psyduck just snored away. "Oy! Bro, wake up!" Nothing. June tried patting his head, tickling him, even taking him off his head and shaking him slightly. June looked at Donovon, slightly embarased. "One sec," he said, "this'll work." He leaned in as if to whisper to Psyduck before saying loudly, "Psychy Psychy Psychy!!" Psyduck was up and alert in a start. He let out a few huffs in anger and glared at June. "He hates that nickname," June laughed.
"Ok, come on Bro, let's get Gligar out of that tree!" he pressed onto his Pokemon. But Psyduck gave a few huffs and attempted to fall back asleep. "No, Psyduck, come on!" But his Pokemon refused. June glanced at Donovon. "I guess we can consider this a fail for me? You're up, again, bro." He gave a slight smile and laughed at his silly pokemon, awaiting your move.

Donovon now even more upset than ever about the stubborn Gligar, Donovon no longer was going to give Gligar any other option except to come down from the tree tops even if that meant he was going to burn the whole forest down in the process. Donovon demanded that Machop use Fire Punch on every single tree surrounding the Gligar. Then once all of the trees were lit to ignite the very tree that Gligar sat in. Machop looked at Donovon with a worried expression on his face. But Donovon just coldly said,"Do it now". Machop reluctantly complied rushing towards the trees fists completely surrounded with fire.

June watched as Machop moved forward, a worried look on his face. He began punching a tree nearby the disturbed Gligar. June looked at Donovon, wondering if he was going for the anooyance actic again. But soon enough he saw the flames. He reacted quickly, stunned.
"PSYDUCK, up, NOW!"
The sleeping pokemon was no longer sleeping. He knew. He knew what that voice meant. He was needed, and it was a desperate situation. He hopped off of June's head.
"Use water pulse, stop the fire, now!"
Immediatly Psyduck shot off a burst of water, which hit the tree where the flames were building. The shock of the attack knocked back the Machop slightly. The flames were doused.
June walked in front of the tree in which the Gligar rested. He held out his hands, and glared at Donovon.
"Im not one to get angry, Donovon, however, you just made a mistake. How could you even think to do such a thing? You not only risked the life of the Gligar, but the life of all the Pokemon in this forest! Even teh forest itself!" He huffed, "Donovon, what if that's the tactic you had used to get him, but I wasn't here?! The forest and all of its inhabitants would have burned down with it! How...how can you be so cruel?" His hands lowered. "I thought..I thought I saw somethign else in you. I thought you were a good person." He closed his eyes, momentarily. He looked at his Psyduck.
"Psyduck," he said calmly, "Use Psychic and lower the Gligar down to me." Psyduck nodded and began to concentrate on the Gligar. A faint light violet aura gave off of Psyduck and the Gligar. The Gligar levitated down to June, slighly angered, but June managed to subdue it with a few kind words and soft pats.
He pulled out a Pokeball from his messanger bag, and tapped it against the now calmed Gligar. He was captured, now. June turned to Donovon.
"Here," he said, and tossed Donovon the Pokeball, "take what you were willing to hurt so many for. Maybe with him you can learn a lesson."

Donovon took the pokeball from the boy and as soon as he held it in his hands he started to smile. But not his normal evil grin this time it was areal smile. He then laughed and said," Do you really think I woulda let the forest? I had a feeling that if I used that last trick you would have given up the Gligar. Besides if I were wrong I had Snorunts Powder Snow and Ice Beam to douse the flames". Donovon looked at his Machop and patted him on the head then said," Even though he didn't want I'm sure Machop knew we weren't going to burn down the forest....... But still I don't want to make him feel that way again, so....".

From his belt clip Donovon grabbed Machops pokeball and and returned to its black spray painted sphere. Donovon the looked at the still glaring June and placed Machop pokeball in his hand and smiled and said calmly, "Hey I don't believe in freebies so let's call this an even trade. June he's all yours maybe you can raise a little better than me.....I don't need him anyways, or better to say I don't want him to get hurt later on down this path. Cause I'm gonna soon jion the Elite Four and unfortunately there's no room for a Machop, no matter how powerful.....on Team Sandstorm".

Donovon began to walk away leaving Machop with June and taking Gligar with him Snorunt and Trapinch looked back and let out cries as if saying," Bye. We'll miss you". Donovon a looked back as well with his usual exprssion his face then slowly began to walk away, but then stopped looked back and said," I almost forgot, me and you should battle right here right now. You should know that its a privilege to battle a future member of the Elite Four. So what do ya say?". Donovon looked June in the eyes blankly and waited for an answer.

June stared as Donovon laughed, and explained everything. And, slowly, he smiled too. The he began laughing out loud, erhaps he HAD over reacted a bit. Donovon was a good guy, after all. He couldn't believe it. Of course Snorunt would've been able to put the flames out. June guessed he still had a lot to learn himself, too. He accepted the trade Donovon offered, and admired his passion to join the Elite 4. He felt inside that this guy had the potential. He could make it that far. June, on the otehr hand, not so much, haha.

Pasyduck and Machop watched as Donovon walked away. It was a sad farewell, he had to admit. But suddenly Donovon turned around, and offered up a challange.

June grinned his sheepish grin. "Alright, bro, let's go 1vs1. Let's see how good your Machop really is!"

And with that he asked Machop to step forward, and realizing this was just a friendly battle against his former Master, he got into a fighting stance smiling, ready to battle.

"If i do recall, it was 'your turn,' right?" He laughed. "Show me what you've got." He slipped one hand into his hoodie's pocket, and the other grazed his chin quickly in challange. By now, Psyduck had already fallen asleep.

Donovon takes out the pokeball containing Gligar and tosses the pokeball into the air as he said," Go Gligar hop into the tree tops and use Screech". Gligar looked at Donovon with a confused face at first knowing that Donovon was not the Trainer that caught him. Donovon just looked at Gligar with his normal blank expression then he covered his ears and nodded to Gligar. Then Gligar began to Screech at highest possible volume it could in an attempt to lower the guard of Donovons former Machop.

June watched as the Gligar became accustomed to his new trainer. He smiled at this.

As the screech hit his ears he moved to quickly cover them, however Machop was not so lucky. The force of the Screech made him a bit dizzy, easily lowering his defences the rest of the battle. June hated to admit it, he wasn't much for battles, but this guy deserved the respect of one.

June wondered how he could fight the Pokemon that was high up in the tree, with Machop so low. "Hmm," he said, "Machop, bro, you look strong, climb on up that tree and Cross Chop that Gligar down to your level!"

Machop began to ascent to the tree branch where the Gligar lay.

Seeing Machop climb the tree made Donovon so proud he could hardly help from praising him, but this was a battle so he looked towards he new Gligar and said," Ok Gligar that's enough time in the tree. Jump out and use Slash as you fall, before Machop can get of his attack". Gligar still a little hesitant to following Donovons orders slowly prepared itself to jump. After finally began to jump it dived head first and started prepare for its Slash attack. As Gligar closed in on Machop its right pincer began to glow white as he executed a Slash aimed straight for the back of the climbing Machop. __________________

June grinned. The Gligar was bound to hit, unless...

"Machop, let go and drop!" Machop did as he was commanded, letting go of the tree trunk and swiftly falling down back to the ground, landing with a slight thud. Gligar continued it's pursuit of Machop.

"Now that he's heading for you, Fire Punch him before he strikes!" Machops fists began to glow a slight red, and he drew back his fist, prepared to strike. As the two attacks collided for a moment Gligar's claw and Machop's fist stood still pressed against each other.

But they both released and Machop hopped back. The attacks had cancelled each other out.

"Good, Machop, now Karate Chop him head on!" June cried out, and Machop began to head for the now lowered Gligar.

As Machop started to come closer Donovon then told Glogar," Gligar use Sand Attack to stop Machop attack". Gligar began to throw sand from the ground using the sand that Trapinch had created earlier. Gligar aimed for the eyes of Machop. Donovon grinned then said," Now use another Screech attack whilre Machop is blinded". Gligar began to Screech again this time at an even louder and eardrum busting volume. Donovon just stood back covered his ears and grinned a not so evil grin.

The sand struck Machop's eyes, but his punch continued forward. However, the Screech teh Gligar let loose immediatly afterwards stopped his attack. Machop had to cover his ears, momentarily vunerable to attack.

June winced. This guy was good, he was proving a challange. However, strategy just popped into June's head like crazy.

"Machop! Jump and then punch the sand on the ground as hard as you can!" Machop did so, and as he hit the ground, the sand flew up into the air, momentarily providing a smokescreen of sand. Now Gligar could not momentarily see Machop.

"Good, bro, now get that sand out of your eyes!" June called out and Machop began to do so.

Donovon stunned for a second looked at Gligar and tried to think of a way to counter this counter attack. Donovons eyes opened wide then he said," Gligar use Metal Claw on the ground while charging towards Machop. He's still hasn't moved yet". The tip of Gligars claw began to glow white as he jabbed it into the ground below Gligar used its tail like a spring to rush foward, his Metal Claw leaving a cut in the Earth as he rocketed towards Machop. Donovon saw Gligar burst through the wall of sand then said," Now Gligar use Metal Claw". Gligar used all of his force to rip the Metal Claw out of the ground, but now the attack was more powerful and a lot faster than it would have been normally, by using the resistance of the ground to do so. Gligar aimed right for Machops face and didn't hold anything back.

June watched as Gligar began his attack. It was too fast, he had little time to think.

"Machop, use Cross Chop!" he called out, hoping that as the Pokemon crossed his arms to prepare for the attack, it could serve as a shield, then a attack.

Machop barely had time to cross his arms before the Metal Claw struck him hard, but somehow managed to only strike the crossed arms. Though the force and speed of the attack made the attack much more powerful, and it did a lot more damage than it normally would have. Machop, highly damaged but still in place continued with his attack, and struck the Gligar with his Cross Chop. The attack smacked the flying Pokemon and sent him flying back a ways, though still in the air.

"Quick, now, Machop! Let's end this! Fire Punch him out of this battle!" Machop plunges forward, his fist glowing red, prepared to defeat his fomer master.

For a brief moment Donovon was smiling as he saw his old Machop take such a powerful, but the happiness soon faded as he remembered that this was a battle and his new pokemon is Gligar and no longer Machop. Donovon knew that both pokemon had barely any energy left in them to fight, but Donovon wasn't gonna give up. He looked towards June and said,"Sorry, but this battle isn't gonna end the way that you may think," Donovon looked towards the still airborne Gligar and said," use your tail to bounce of a tree and head straight at Machop with Slash, he can't take much more any ways". Gligar did exactly what he was told only Gligar chose on its to direct its attack at the neck of Machop, claws glowing white with raw power behind them.

Gligar bounced off the Tree, directing itself right at Machop's neck. June knew he had to act quick if Machop was going to miss this attack. Man, how he hated battles.

Machop was still running forward when Gligar switch manuevers, so...."Machop, use Low Kick forward!"

Machop changed his run into a slide and with this his speed doubled. Gligar's attack narrowly missed the sliding Machop. Machop stopped his slide and turned around to face Gligar once more.

June smiled. "No, bro," he said. "I don't think this battle is going to end the way you want it to."

The battle returned to the same scenario only the two pokemon were on the opposite sides of which they started. Gligar breathed heavily and looked at his new trainer. Donovon looked towards June and said," How would you like to have taste of your own medicine? Gligar use Slash on the sand left over by Trapinch, and bring the Slash straight to Machop.

June had never been in such a battle before. Maybe this was because he rarely ever battled, and in fact detested them. however he had to admit he was enjoying himself, and definantly gettign into teh groove of things.

"Machop," he called, and thinking of a simular strategy to his last move, "Use Low Kick to slide, and use Fire Punch on the ground as you do, then bring it up and attack!" June's theory was that the attack could use the force of the slide to build up the earth in the punch which would then be powerful enough to take on Gligar's sand Slash(OOC: lol).

MAchop began his slide, bringing his fist down into the earth, building up a pile of rock and soil as he went. Then in one swift move, as Gligar struck and sand flew everywehere, and Machop struck and dirt and flames flew everywhere, the air was fogged in a blanket of earthen ash.

June and Donovon watched as the air cleared. Machop and Gligar lay relatively motionless on teh ground. Both knocked unconciouss. It was a double K.O., a tie.

June laughed.t had been a good battle.

As the air cleared Donovon saw that both pokemon were knock out, he started to smile a little. Donovon walked over to Gligar and picked it up and said Gligar that battle was awesome, its hard to believe that's your first battle. He looked at Machop and smiled, he knew that Machop was with a good Trainer to almost win against a pokemon with a clear type advantage. As Gligar began to awaken Donovon slowly put him back down on the ground, because he was kind of heavy. Trapimch and Snorunt ran over congratulate Gligar on such a hard fought battle.

Donovon walked over to June and extended his and said," That was great I haven't had a battle like that in a while, you're really good.... It would be great if we could do it again though... You know, but next time a real battle three on three...About after we both get our third badges, I never really could say this before, but you make a good rival". Donovon smiled with his hand extended to June and waited for Junes response.

June returned Machop to his Pokeball as Donovon retrieved his new Gligar. They had both fought so well, he knew Donovon had to be proud of his former Pokemon.

As Donovon extended his hand and spoke, June listened with a smile. He reached hsi hand out and clasped Donovons. "Your gonna make a great Rival, bro. And yeah, I'd be glad to battle again, one day." His eyes traveled up to his sleeping Psyduck. "You know, I've never really liked battles. But today you showed me that by battling you and your Pokemon can grown and learn from one another. So, I think maybe I will go out and try and get a few badges, so that maybe one day I can see you in the Pokemon Leauge."

And with that, June bid farewell to his new friend and Rival, and dissapeared into the forest.

Donovon watched as June walked away, but he then turns around and says," Come on guys let's go, we got a whole lot of training to do if we want to beat that guy". Donovons pokemon began to follow behind him as he went onto his next adventure, he knew that he had much more waiting ahead for him. Slowly Donovon started to walk away and head straight towards his destiny.
