Kennedy meet Prof. Oak! (CLOSED)

Kennedy awoke eagerly, knowing today is the day she starts her journey. She got up, went into the bathroom, cleaned herself up and got dressed in her brand new clothes that her mother bought her. A new sweater, in her favourite colour too! Sea foam green. And not to mention the denim shorts and the white tank top. She gave herself one more look at her reflection in the mirror and hurriedly went back into her room.

She glanced at her nightstand, everything was in place for her to pack in her father's old backpack. She grabbed a bit of extra clothing out of her closet and dresser, and packed it away in her bag. She continued to pack her essentials, leaving her old beat up and scratched pokeball out, she liked to carry that in her sweater pocket, she liked to feel the heat of Ponyta’s flame, plus it reminded her of her father.

Once done, she headed downstairs to say her goodbyes to her mother. It was going to be a long journey, and she new every last second with her mom counted. They ate breakfast together and once done her mom said, "Well sweetie, it's time to get going. You can call me anytime you want, I'll be looking forward to hearing from you."
"Yeah, I know mom." Kennedy replied, trying to hide back some of her tears.
"Now you listen to me young lady, I am so proud of you. You know that? I know you will be a great trainer!"
"Yes mom, I know. Thank you." Sniffled Kennedy.
"Well, okay then. Go on to Professor Oak's lab and he should have some advice for you."

With that Kennedy left her house and walked over to the lab. She stood in front of the door for a couple seconds, she was nervous. After all, this was THE Professor Oak that she was going to be meeting. She took one last deep breath, and opened the door holding her beat up pokeball in her hand.
"H-Hello? Umm, Professor Oak, sir?" She managed to call out.

Startled by how fast Prof. Oak came to her side, Kennedy looked in amazement and said, "Oh, uh, hi Mr. Professor Oak, sir!" She planted a smile on her face in hopes of covering up how shy and nervous she actually was.
"Ummm, my mother told me you may have some supplies for my journey. I already have a Pokemon ..." She said and glanced down at the warm pokeball in her hand. "It's a Ponyta." She added, and as she said this her face lit up with a smile.
She glanced around the room quickly, trying to take everything in. She loved everything about it, the books, machinery, and the general vibe of the assistants bustling about within the lab.

Kennedy followed Professor Oak into the back and sat down on the chair he had offered to her. "Thank you." She said to him as he offered.
"It is a real pleasure to meet you, sir" She smiled and continued, "I wish I had gotten to do this years ago, but I am just overcoming a slight fear of Pokemon." She giggled and looked to Professor Oak who was seated in his comfy looking leather chair. "Now, about those supplies, if it's not a problem, I'd like to begin my journey soon." She said and smiled, but was shocked on how assertive she had just been, for after all, she didn't mean it in a rude way.

"Oh yes, I know what each item is sir, thank you." Kennedy gratefully took the items she was given and sat on the chair and began putting them in her bag. She had certain pockets for each item. While doing so she picked up on the question Prof. Oak had asked.
"Oh, my fear... Well you see, it wasn't too long ago when this happened but my father has recently passed away. He stepped in front of his own Pokemon and took a very powerful Thunder attack from a Electivire just around the corner from out old house. The other trainer wouldn't stop the battle when my dad's Empoleon had fainted. All my dad wanted to do was to save his poor Pokemon, but instead he passed away from it. And well, since then, I've developed a slight fear of Pokemon, even though the Electrivire really didn't mean too..." Kennedy spoke softly and slow, making sure not to slur any words. Her face was solemn, but still as you look at her you could still see a spark of happiness. "It's taken me a little bit, but, I'm here now, ready to begin a journey, just like my dad!" This time her voice grew much more determined sounding, and even joyous.
She gave a wide look around the lab, and quickly said, "Oh, I'm sorry, you wanted to know which colour of a National Pokedex I wanted?" Kennedy giggled at the fact that she could be so clueless at times. "Well, I'd like to stick with the classic Red colour please, if that's not too much trouble." She smiled at Professor Oak then said, "You know sir, I'd like to become a Pokemon Professor just like you once I'm done my Journey."

"Thank you so much!" Kennedy exclaimed. "I think I'm going to head out though. Long journey ahead, and I am real excited."
Kennedy gave one last look around the lab, and took hold of the new pokedex Prof. Oak pushed towards her. She put it in her pack, and stood up from the chair. She was anxious and scared, but confident. She knew this journey was going to be tough, but also knew it was going to be a great experience for her. She thanked Prof. Oak once more for the nice chat and all of her new equipment, and began heading towards the door.
Once near the entrance, she turned back to see Prof. Oak still near his desk and as she opened the door to leave she said to herself in a faint whisper, "I can do this. I will do this." She turned back around after waving goodbye to Professor oak and headed out the Laboratory doors. Once out, she let out her Ponyta, climbed on her back and rode off into the nearest trail heading out of Pallet town.

Kennedy heard this boys challenge. She tensed up on Ponyta, and without much time hopped off and stood next to her Pokemon. She looked the boy over, and then looked at her Ponyta. Though their time together hadn't been a very long time, she new that her Ponyta was strong and brave. "Oh, uhh .. sure, a Pokemon battle ... I can do that." I think, she murmured in her head. She glanced at her Pokemon again, "Do you want to do this?" She asked her partner. Her ponyta stared into Kennedy's eyes, and gave a small but assuring whinny letting Kennedy know she was ready for battle.
She glanced over at the boy again, "So, I guess you know who I will be battling with, what about you?" She asked politely. She was not the kind of person to make enemies, but rather try to make friends. Even if this was her rival it didn't mean they had to hate each other from the start.
She stood waiting beside her partner, Kennedy was nervous, this was going to be her first trainer battle. She took a deep breath and thought to herself, I can do this, we can do this. And if not, we learn. We grow. She gave the boy a smile while waiting for him to call out his Pokemon.

"Hmm, a Corphish, well this will be a challenge. We can do it though, right Ponyta?"
Kennedy took her stance and called for her partner to stand in front of her. "Now Ponyta, this will be our first trainer battle, I believe we can win this. I believe in you." The Ponyta whinnied and took a battle-like stance facing the opponent's Corphish. Kennedy looked at the trainer and asked, "mind if I have the first call?" he was quiet, didn't say so much as a word. "I'll take that as a 'yes' then." Kennedy took a deep breath and closed her eyes. 1, 2, 3. "Okay Ponyta, use your Tackle Attack on the Corphish!" And with that the Ponyta ran towards the opponent's Pokemon.

"Yes! Good hit Ponyta!" Kennedy yelled out as Ponyta landed a powerful attack on the Corphish. She continued to watch as the battle progressed and caught sight of the water protruding from the Corphish's claw. "Oh no!!" She yelled, and in desperation was not able to say much else other than random ramblings.
The water hit along Ponyta's legs causing her to loose balance and fall over. She was hurt badly, but got up with fighting spirit. "Ponyta! Are you okay girl?" Kennedy cried out, she was almost in tears.
Her Ponyta, panting hard, looked to Kennedy and back at the water-type opponent she was facing. She pawed the ground, and gave a whinny sounding very determined. "You sure you want to keep going? I wont blame you.." Kennedy asked her partner as tears gathered in her eyes. Her Ponyta gave yet another whinny, asking for it's next move to be called out.
"Alright then Ponyta!" Kennedy wiped her eyes, and a smile began to emerge on her face. "We can do this!" She took a deep breath and called out the next attack, "Now, use Secret Power!"

Ponyta had fallen over once again, and the opponent's Pokemon used a powerful crabhammer attack.
"Oh no!! Ponyta, move out of the way!" Kennedy yelled, tear began building up in her eyes. "We can do this, remember?" The Ponyta tried her hardest and moved out of the way just in time. The crabhammer attack hit the ground and dust gathered around the two Pokemon and their trainers.
Because of the dust, Kennedy did not know if the attack had hit Ponyta or not. She stood there, speechless. Waiting to see or hear anything from her precious partner. Until she saw her Pokemon use a Flash attack, it brightened the dust and made the Ponyta visible.
"Ponyta!" Kennedy exclaimed. She was so happy to see her back on her feet. Although it looked as if only one more hit could knock her out. Kennedy stood there thinking what she could do, then she got an idea. Ponyta was still using the Flash attack, and this was probably making the Corphish "blind". Kennedy gave a little giggle and repeated, "we can do this, we can do this!"
She focused on the battle with her Pokemon, and they seemed almost in sync this time, as kennedy exclaimed, "Now Ponyta, use Tackle!" She knew Ponyta was fast, and was hoping she was faster than her newly found opponent's Corphish.

"Good job Ponyta!" Kennedy excaimed. She let out a tiny squeal and continued, "You hit once, you can hit again! Let's try your secret power once more!" She knew the first time it didn't work all too well. But she knew everything needs practice. "You can do it Ponyta, and if you don't we'll try a different strategy" If we don't get knocked out first she thought to herself.
Her Ponyta stood in battle stance readying her Secret Power attack. Kennedy knew this was a hit or miss strategy however, she wasn't about to give up. Even if they did loose this match, there would be others. And Kennedy would train to be a strong trainer alongside her faithful Pokemon.

Kennedy did not know what to say as her Ponyta finished the match. She stood speechless for a second and just before the other trainer could leave she called out a polite "Thank you!" and agreed for another battle one day.
She knew that he was a formidable opponent, and would be tougher to beat with more training and Pokemon. But, with this battle Kennedy's confidence boosted, as well as her partner's.
"C'mon Ponyta; thank you, you did a great job. Return." She held out her old beat-up pokeball and a flash of white light beamed out and her Pokemon was put safely inside. She walked over to pick up the money her opponent left and put it in her sweater pocket.

She stood in the path they battled in for a good 10 minutes, letting the breeze hit her back. She used this time to think, about the battle, her upcoming journey, and her father. He would be proud of her, and she knew it. She decided after the 10 minutes of reflecting was done it was high time to go to a Pokemon Center to get her partner healed up, then they would start their Journey.
Along the way she continued to think about things she would need to remember in battle, strategies she could use, and possible new Pokemon she would obtain and encounter throughout the course of her travels. All the while, she held the warm beat-up pokeball in both hands, knowing her partner was in there, wishing and thinking about the same things.
